I have recorded a virtual wine tasting for Pinot Noir and posted that on youtube. You can get the wines for that tasting and then stream it and enjoy this tasting when, where , and with whomever you you would like. The link to that recorded wine tasting is https://youtu.be/llKu8Ta84os . Because it is free, youtube will add their ads to it.
I suggest that you open all five wines about 30 minutes before you start the recording to give them a chance to breathe. I also suggest that you have five wine glasses for each person doing this wine tasting so you will be able to compare the wines from the four major regions. Having a glass for each of the wines will let you do that.
The wines for this wine tasting, and recommendations on where to get them are below. The approach here is to start with a simple Pinot Noir table wine to introduce the grape and then compare wines in the same $18-25 price range for the four major regions producing excellent Pinot Noir: California, New Zealand, Oregon, and the Burgundy region of France.
Castel Rock Pinot Noir Willamette Valley – Sources:
- Total Wine carries it in many stores for $13. Check on line if they have it in a store near you.
- Web stores the generally carry this wine: Saratoga Wine Exchange – $12, B-21 – $13, WineDeals.com – $13
- Wine.com appears to have stopped carrying this wine after the 2017 vintage but you can check if that has changed
- Castel Rock makes 9 different Pinot Noir wines so make sure you get the one from the Willamette Valley which is the one we will start this wine tasting with. Very little variation form year to year so any vintage will be fine.
